In this brief intro workshop focus will be on discussing the stress response and how to find out more about your own stress patterns and responses. Discussion will be focused on using mindful awareness to notice triggers and patterns in your daily life and we will review several easy body-based tools to start you on your path to feeling more relaxed in your day to day life.

Heidi McLarty

Heidi McLarty is a holistic occupational therapist and owner of Potential & Possibilities Holistic Occupational Therapy located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. Heidi has diverse experience in a number of areas of practice including geriatric rehabilitation, acute care, pediatric therapy, home care and disability case management. Most recently, Heidi has been specializing in working with adult clients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Chronic pain conditions, Post-Concussion Syndrome, Anxiety and Depression and Sleep issues. Heidi is passionate about getting to the “root cause” of what is happening in the nervous system from a Trauma-based lens using the Polyvagal theory. Heidi uses holistic strategies and tools to help enable every client’s optimal functioning and re-engagement in their lives. She brings light to solutions which assist people in improving their energy as well as achieving balance and continuity in their lives. She also has training in trauma-based emotional approaches such as Auricular Chromotherapy which uses different colours of lights to shift trauma from the nervous system. Another commonly used technique that Heidi uses is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) which involves tapping on various acupoints on the body to help shift and release emotional energy blockages in the body.
